Taco love will not save you

Like most people with good sense, I love tacos. However,  there are times when keeping taco affection on the down low is a smart move.

Take Joseph Maturo, the mayor of East Haven, Connecticut.  A few of the police in his town are under indictment and arrest for violating the civil rights of the town's Latino residents. When asked by a television reporter what he planned to do, the mayor offered this:

"I might have tacos when I go home, I'm not quite sure yet."

You might think you misread. I understand. Hard to believe an elected official would opine in such a way on videotape.

There was the predictable rage against Mr. Mayor's comment. He backtracked, apologized, and now is presenting himself as the best friend of the brown.

Oh, crazy, racist peoples.
